Jim Franey has extensive tax experience, the last three years of which have been spent with Tonneson. He works with high net worth individuals, specifically those who work in private equity, as well as with corporations and partnerships.  Jim advises individuals regarding stock options and other equity-based compensation.  In 2018, Jim became managing director of Tonneson’s new location in Columbia, Maryland. He is motivated by the relationships that he has developed over the years and by learning something new every day.

Jim is a CPA who earned a B.S. in accounting from Bentley University. He’s a member of the Massachusetts Society of CPAs (MSCPA), the Maryland Association of CPAs (MACPA) and the Howard County Estate Planning Council. Outside of his daily responsibilities, Jim enjoys participating in industry networking events and mentoring young professionals through the MACPA mentor program.

Jim lives in Columbia, Maryland with his wife Susan. He has four children and four grandchildren. In his leisure time, he enjoys traveling, running, boating, reading and following New England sports.
