Erin Coco CPA Named 2021 Woman to Watch

Erin Coco, CPA and audit shareholder at Tonneson + Co, has been named one of the 2021 Women to Watch by the Massachusetts Society of CPAs (MassCPAs) in the Experienced Leader category. This year’s seven winners were selected by the MassCPAs in partnership with the AICPA’s Women’s Initiatives Executive Committee. The winners were honored at the MassCPAs Virtual Women’s Leadership Summit on October 28.

The Women to Watch Awards were created by the AICPA to recognize outstanding women in the accounting profession and are given in two categories: Emerging and Experienced Leaders. The annual award recognizes professionals who have made “outstanding contributions to the accounting profession, their communities, their firms or companies and to the development of women as leaders.”

Criteria for nominations included:

• Mentoring of other professionals
• Leadership or involvement in workplace initiatives and improvements
• Overall contributions to the profession and workplace
• Public or community service and/or involvement with their alma mater or other colleges and universities

Erin Coco has distinguished herself by playing an integral role in advancing women’s leadership, mentoring young professionals, and driving strategic planning initiatives at Tonneson. She is a founding member of the Tonneson Women’s Group. With more than 20 years of experience in public accounting, Erin co-leads Tonneson’s client accounting and advisory services department. In the audit department, she serves nonprofit organizations and privately-held companies across various industries. Erin also serves as the treasurer of Communitas, a nonprofit organization that delivers individualized, family-centered services, programs and support for people of all abilities, across their lifespan and in their communities.

Erin feels strongly about giving back to the community and creating awareness about the accounting profession. She appreciates the value of employee feedback and is an advocate for change. Erin embraces new ideas and works collaboratively with colleagues across the firm to drive improvements.

During the Women’s Leadership Summit, Erin participated in a panel discussion with her fellow award recipients, offering insights on topics such as work-life harmony, career advancement, and mentorship.
