Payroll Specialist

We are currently seeking a Payroll Specialist to be responsible for processing payroll information, reviewing and performing payroll audits, and serving as a point of contact for questions about payment policies and procedures.

There is an option for part-time or full-time.

Essential Job Functions

  • Prepare and process weekly and/or biweekly payrolls
  • Assist in data entry of new hires
  • Process all terminated employees and calculate manual checks
  • Assist with data feed to 401k provider on weekly basis
  • Research employee payroll inquiries in a timely manner including verifications of employment
  • Assist with annual merits, increases, special, and retroactive calculations
  • Assist with onboarding new hire information with Life Insurance provider
  • Upload salary changes to Life Insurance provider
  • Reconcile Life Insurance invoice on a monthly basis
  • Review expense reimbursements for adequate documentation and approval; process in payroll
  • Organize Payroll Storage and documentation
  • Extract payroll data for reporting, compliance, and metrics purposes
  • Review quarterly tax filings prepared by payroll vendor
  • Assist with PTO Allowance calculations for new hires, terms and/or new calendar year
  • Assist with other special projects as required

Preparation, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree; in Accounting a plus
  • Two years of electronic payroll processing experience (including for remote workers)
  • Experience with ACA Reporting and federal, state and local taxes
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Superior written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Professional, organized, detail-oriented, and customer service oriented
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential information and maintain confidence
  • Willingness to work overtime if needed
