IT Operations Specialist

The IT Operations Specialist performs a variety of complex information technology support duties to ensure smooth delivery of technology services. This position monitors, operates and assists others in the operation of computer hardware, software, and peripherals in order to achieve desired results.

Utilizes computer equipment, software and diagnostic tools to perform a broad range of employee assistance, equipment maintenance, repair and computer operations assignments. Requires minimum supervision. Updates director on status of projects or technical issues. Exercises judgment and creativity in selecting and applying procedures correctly and determines when to refer problems to the director or next level of support.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provides installation, repair and maintenance for computer equipment and may assist with testing computers and peripherals on a network to diagnose hardware versus software problems
  • Helps to seek out and implement ways to make a system or process more efficient
  • Troubleshoots, diagnoses problems, implements corrective action procedures within
    prescribed guidelines and/or escalates to other technical resources as appropriate
  • Administers user accounts
  • Ensures availability of necessary application systems to support business and operation needs
  • Ensures that the Firm has the necessary equipment and accessories on hand by periodically auditing the department’s inventory and maintaining records of equipment requests from users

Qualifications include:

  • Minimum five years’ experience in information systems management
  • Experience with Windows Server 2008 and above
  • Knowledge of internet/network security best practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good documentation habits
  • Strong follow-up skills
  • Highly self-motivated individual who has the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
