IT Assistant

The IT Assistant performs a variety of complex information technology support duties to ensure smooth delivery of technology services. This position monitors, operates and assists others in the operation of computer hardware, software, and peripherals in order to achieve desired results. Utilizes computer equipment, software and diagnostic tools to perform a broad range of employee assistance, equipment maintenance, repair and computer operations assignments. Requires minimum supervision. Updates director on status of projects or technical issues. Exercises judgment and creativity in selecting and applying procedures correctly and determines when to refer problems to the director or next level of support.

Responsibilities include:

• Provides basic installation, repair and maintenance for computer equipment and may assist with testing computers and peripherals on a network to diagnose hardware versus software problems
• Sets up and configures laptop/desktop computers, peripherals and accounts assigning security
• Helping to seek out and implement ways to make a system or process more efficient
• Troubleshoots, diagnoses problems, implements corrective action procedures within
• prescribed guidelines and/or escalates to other technical resources as appropriate
• Administers user accounts
• Ensures availability of necessary application systems to support business and operation needs
• Ensures that the Firm has the necessary equipment and accessories on hand by periodically auditing the department’s inventory and maintaining records of equipment requests from users

Qualifications include:

• 2-3 years of related IT experience, preferably in a CPA firm environment
• Degree in information systems, computer science, or related field, Bachelors preferred
• Experience with CPA software vendors (CCH, Xcentric, and Windows-based systems preferred)
• Microsoft Office 365 knowledge
• Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills
• Ability to follow directions and initiative when required
