About Amy K. Phelan
She is a Tax Director at tonneson + co and has over fifteen years of public accounting experience. She works closely with wealthy individuals and their advisors to provide tax planning and compliance services. Her clientele consist primarily of wealthy individuals and small to medium sized business owners. She is very comfortable advising clients in all aspects of their financial needs including, but not limited to, tax and estate planning, divorce support, compensation planning, and IRS and state agency audit representation.
Professional Background
Amy works with families that have a complex financial structure with federal, multistate and foreign reporting requirements. A typical client’s asset framework might consist of a closely held business, multiple trusts, family limited partnerships and private foundations.
Her focus in the private client group is helping closely-held business owners and wealthy individuals navigate through all aspects of their financial lives. She considers the clients goals and objectives as she consults on tax issues affecting their businesses, their families and their future.
Education & Associations
Amy received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts and a Master of Science in Taxation from Bentley University. Amy is actively involved in fundraising and participates in several events sponsored by the American Cancer Society and is currently serving as treasurer on the Relay for Life Committee. Amy is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Boston Estate Planning Council.
